A lifesaving product critical for steel structures.
Fire protection isn't just a nice-thing to have in a steel-framed building—it's required by the Building Code. MONOKOTE® is an industry-leading fireproofing material for skyscrapers and critical infrastructure. More than simply a code-compliant product, MONOKOTE® brings with it over sixty years of proven performance in the field. It's easy for contractors to apply, and backed by worldwide technical and field support specialists from GCP. This ensures that no matter how a building gets built, MONOKOTE® will offer the highest grade of performance.
Based on its easy-to-use characteristics, global reputation and lengthy proven history, MONOKOTE® has been employed in some of the world's biggest projects. The MGM City Center in Las Vegas, the world's largest privately-funded construction project, used over 500,000 bags of GCP fireproofing product. Likewise, the architects of Singapore's Keppel Bay Bridge, and New York City's own Freedom Tower, have each specified MONOKOTE® products to keep their buildings safe.
Safety Data Sheets
What is MONOKOTE®?
MONOKOTE®, fireproofing backed by a global reputation, is a life-safety product designed to reduce the rate of temperature rise in steel or concrete in the event of a fire. This prolongs the structural integrity of the elements, which allows more people to leave a building in an emergency situation and gives first responders time to save the building.
Contractor friendly in a number of applications
MONOKOTE® has been specifically designed to be contractor friendly. The materials are typically spray-applied and can be pumped easily into the upper floors of tall buildings. In addition to being less abrasive and less challenging to pump, users can also elect to inject MONOKOTE® to vary set time and density of the material.
Designed to resist environmental extremes
MONOKOTE® products include multiple formulations designed for a wide variety of applications. MONOKOTE® products can be used on steel, concrete and even urethane surfaces, and comes in formulations designed to resist extremes of temperature, weather and industrial environments.
Tunnels, subways and petrochemical refineries all have unique environmental conditions and unique risks of fire—and they all have a MONOKOTE® product designed specifically for those needs. Lastly, building codes specify different bond strengths and densities for fireproofing material based on building height. For each set of requirements, MONOKOTE® provides a solution, for example MONOKOTE® MK-1000, a product with a 1000 PSF bond strength designed for buildings over 420 feet (128 metres) tall.
