ADVA® 970MV

Rheology Modified PCE Mid Range Admixture for Mid Range applications

Product Description

ADVA 970MV is a liquid mid range Polycarboxylate ether based admixture essentially designed to work in concrete mixes replacing conventional naphthalene products.

ADVA 970MV is specially formulated tailor-made product to offer marginally higher water reduction, prolonged slump retention in comparison to many products of this kind. Due to this, it works across many mixes which demand higher water reduction initially because of other limitations in the mix like water-cement ratio / source of binder materials etc. It works effectively across both natural and crushed fine aggregates in a range of concrete grades starting from a least binder content.

ADVA 970MV limits bleeding without entraining additional air unlike other admixtures. This promotes rheology and pumpabiity, while limiting bleed is the prime challenge.

ADVA® 970MV conforms to IS 9103, ASTM C494 Type A, D, F & G admixtures and EN 934-2.

Method Of Use

ADVA 970MV is supplied ready for use. It should be added in its supplied form to the concrete after at least 90% of water is added.

Compatibility with Cements

ADVA 970MV can be used with most types of Portland Cements. It is effective in concretes containing pulverized fuel ash or ground granulated blast furnace slag.

For use with special cements we recommend to contact GCP Applied Technologies

Advantages

  • Marginally high on water reduction in comparison to many mid-range PCEs to work in challenging mixes
  • Limits bleeding in concrete to promote rheology and pumping besides helping finishing operations
  • Has a good dosage range to work over different types of mixes to offer desired performance
  • Works across many mixes containing many SCMs in presence of crushed or natural sands.
  • Can produce highly workable / self levelling mixes

Addition Rates

Range

  • 300 ml -1300 ml per 100 kg cement
  • 0.30% -1.30% (v/w) by wt. of cement

As a guide to these trials, an addition level of 0.3-1.3 % ADVA 970MV volume by weight of cement is recommended.

For advice and assistance with trials we recommend that you consult GCP Applied Technologies.

ADVA 970MV is a versatile, high performance product that benefits from a wide variety of applications. As with most products of this type the magnitude of the effect obtained with ADVA 970MV is governed by the quantity of product used, water-cement ratio, and the specific nature of the concrete and constituent materials.

It is necessary, therefore, to assess performance under site conditions using actual materials to determine optimum performance and dosage and effect on both plastic and hardened concrete properties such as cohesiveness, workability retention, setting characteristics, rate of early strength gain, ultimate strength and shrinkage where these are of consequence.

Compatibility with Other Admixtures

The performance of ADVA 970MV is affected with presence of other chemicals.

For such applications, we recommend to contact GCP Applied Technologies.

Effects of Overdosing

The effects of overdosing ADVA 970MV are a function of the degree of overdose.

Depending on the extent of the overdose, an increase in setting time may also occur, especially in low temperatures, and or when employing sulphate resisting cement, or certain pozzolanic materials.

In any situation where overdosing is suspected, a careful inspection of the concrete in its plastic state should be conducted. Particular attention should be paid to consistency and cohesiveness, prior to a decision on the suitability of the concrete for the particular application.

Dispensing

It is preferable that ADVA 970MV should be introduced into the mixer by means of independent automatic dispensing equipment.

Equipment or advice on dispensing can be obtained from GCP Applied Technologies.
